The Scan Plane Method for Locating and Gridding Scanning Radiometer Satellite Data.

Abstract

Improving techniques for locating and gridding meteorological satellite imagery data by automated methods are described. The overall objective for the process is to relate each data sample to a location on a standard map projection so an automated mapping routine can efficiently manipulate data to build the required product. To achieve this objective, either particular data samples or particular map points are selected as bench points and calculations are performed for only these points. The remaining points are then determined by interpolation. (Modified author abstract)
