Optimum Design of Thin Walled Structures.

Abstract

The research program relating to the optimum design of thin walled structures is a broadly based effort which reflects the continuing interest of the Aircraft Design Division in fundamental aspects of the analysis and design of highly efficient structures for aero-space applications. Topics briefly discussed include the following: Post-buckled design, design of shear webs; foam stabilised plates; compression panel design including plasticity effects.
