Survey and Critical Review of Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Metals

Abstract

The general technical literature from all known sources that contains mechanical property data on metals at strain rates in the range of 0.01 to . 0001/sec is reviewed. The general trends of the data are discussed for each metal and alloy class. Results on the same material from different sources are compared and consensus results given where possible. The effects of elevated and low temperatures are discussed. Information is also presented in the form of charts which show the range of strain rate and temperature for which data are available for each metal and alloy class.
