Instability and Anomalous Diffusion in Hall Nonequilibrium Plasma Source,

Abstract

In experiments in which the energy balance in a nonequilibrium plasma source was studied an unusally great diffusion of plasma across the magnetic field was observed. Here it was pointed out that the rapid drift of particles to the walls could not be explained by Coulomb collisions alone. In the present study it is proposed that this phenomenon is caused by the oscillations which develop as a result of current-dissipative instability.
