Allergization of the Body and the Carrier State of Yeastlike Fungi among Workers in Yeast Departments of Hydrolysis Plants,
Abstract
Studies of sanitary-hygienic working conditions, Candida carrier state and allergization to yeastlike fungi among workers in yeast-hydrolysis plants were conducted. Modification of the Krotov method, used to determine contamination of the air, showed that in 1 cu m of air there is an average of from 17 to 24 thousand viable fungus cells and in individual work rooms this amount reaches 67 thousand. The incidence of the carrier state of yeastlike fungi in the mouth and nasopharynx among workers in yeast departments and the development of allergization of the body in these areas can be considered indications of the unfavorable effect of these microorganisms on the health of workers.
