Demographic Aspects of Scientific-Technical Prediction,

Abstract

In the Belorussian SSR, a prospective population census has been carried out since 1963. Today, the following combination of demographic models and algorithms is employed: a mathematical model of calculating the hypothetical population; an economic model for 'smoothing' data on the age composition of the population obtained as the result of the census; an economic-mathematical model of the average life expectancy and mortality of the population; algorithms and a mathematical program for constructing tables of the birth rate measured by age and sex; a model for predicting fertility and viability; and an algorithm and a program for a balanced tie-in of the data for specific territorial units with the data for the republic as a whole.
