Congestion in a System of N Service Centers with Interference.

Abstract

The main purpose of this thesis is to construct and compare various models which can be used to analyze the degree of congestion in a system of N sendox facsimile machines. Sendox machines can both transmit and receive (but not simultaneously) photocopies using standard telephone lines. The original problem arose out of a proposal to install a number of these machines in central London Mintech buildings for transmission of thin immediate messages between buildings. This problem was first studied by Coleman who investigated the expected system congestion, expected cost per message and a possible priority system.
