Building a Distance Function for Gestalt Grouping.

Abstract

The authors have devised and studied a method of combining multiple cues for grouping. A standardized scene has been used to eliminate the 'semantic' problem so that the interaction of texture, brightness, and color could be studied. The primary goal of the research has been to simulate human performance as closely as possible. A secondary goal is the development of a useful and orderly methodology for this area of research.
