Uniform Representation of Bivariate Distributions.

Abstract

This paper explores the representation of bivariate distributions in terms of their bivariate uniform translates. It is shown that this natural representation in terms of bivariate distributions whose marginals are uniform allows one to study easily certain properties of bivariate distributions. The authors demonstrate the invariance under translation of some well-known measures of dependence. Finally, it is shown how this approach allows us to find new bivariate distributions and simpler derivations of known bivariate distributions. (Modified author abstract)
