Test and Evaluation of an Ocean Wave Data System.

Abstract

The Wavemaster Buoy, a free-drifting system for the in situ measurement and recording of ocean waves, incorporating the 'tuned sphere' stabilization concept and a precision accelerometer, was tested and evaluated. Static tests and two open-ocean sea trials were performed. Data was recorded by a second wave-measuring buoy, anchored at the test site. Recorded wave heights and periods varied from 1 to 5.8 meters and from 4.6 to 18.3 seconds. (Modified author abstract)
