A Description of the Method Used to Irradiate Shear Pins for the EX161 Primer.
Abstract
A method is discussed for producing about 1 nanocurie of 22Na per pin in bulk quantities of aluminum shear pins using the 27Al(gamma, alpha, neutron)22Na reaction. Techniques for insuring uniformity of activation and measuring the profile of the high energy part of the bremsstrahlung beam are also presented. (Author)
