An Optical Ray Tracing Program

Abstract

A useful aid in the design of optical systems is a digital computer program for tracing a light beam through an optical system. The optical system is comprised of a large class of reflecting and refracting optical elements which includes cylindrical optics. The mathematical technique developed for tracing rays does not require rotational symmetry and is restricted to geometrical optics. RAYTRACE, the ray tracing program, includes graphics among its output options.
