Intensity, Coherence, and Frequency Spectrum of a Focussed Beam in a Random Medium.

Abstract

Numerical results have been obtained for the effect of the strength of turbulence on the intensity, mutual coherence function, and frequency spectrum of a focussed beam propagating in a random medium having a von Karman spectrum for the index of refraction fluctuations. The author has presented conditions for when the turbulence affects the nature of the beam and has demonstrated the validity of these conditions by comparison with the numerical results. (Author)
