A Suitability Study for System-Generated Electromagnetic Pulse Simulation.

Abstract

The document describes the rationale employed in the selection of a suitable existing facility for SGEMP simulation. A high-quality SGEMP simulation chamber must satisfy certain requirements dictated by a comparison of the relevant physics of the simulated environment to those of the environment of interest. These requirements were established by the theoretical work reported in the appendixes. Two existing chambers are examined with respect to how well they might be modified to satisfy these requirements. It is concluded that the NASA-Lewis chamber provides some significant advantages over the Arnold Engineering Development Center candidate. (Author)
