Low Frequency Response of a Submerged Cylindrical Shell Containing a Fluid,

Abstract

Governing equations for an infinitely long, periodically supported, cylindrical shell containing a fluid and submerged in an unbounded region of another fluid are solved directly by means of Fourier harmonic expansions. Steady state, harmonic excitation for the fluid-structure system is provided along a cylindrical boundary of the internal fluid. An expression for the power radiated into the external fluid by the membrane is derived. A long wavelength approximation for radiated power is made which conditionally validates the solution for finite length shells. (Author)
