A STUDY OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ERRORS RESULTING FROM A SATELLITE-MOUNTED CAMERA.
Abstract
The photographing of sections of the earth's surface by satellite-mounted cameras has many important applications. The usefulness of such operations depends upon the ability to identify accurately points on the photograph with their pre-images on the earth's surface. In many cases determination of this correspondence depends entirely upon available information concerning the camera's position and attitude at the instant of photography. A study of the location error at each point in the picture as a function solely of the satellite's position and orientation is the topic of this report. (Author)
