WEBS SEA TRIAL REPORT.

Abstract

A deep ocean buoy system was developed for the purpose of collecting and recording nuclear weapons effects data from over-water nuclear tests. In this report, the components of the system are described and the results of a 6-week sea trial are given. The conclusions, based on the sea trial, are that 10 of the systems can be moored by a modified Navy LSD similar to the ship used for the sea trial, but that a Navy LPD would be necessary for handling the system in the event of a nuclear test.
