DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, AND OPERATION OF THE AEROSPACE CORPORATION BERYLLIUM TOXIC MATERIALS LABORATORY.

Abstract

The report describes the design, construction, and operation of a toxic materials facility capable of performing research and development of new materials containing beryllium, e. g., beryllium alloys, BeO, and beryllides. Capabilities include powder handling, hot pressing, vacuum induction melting, arc-melting, isostatic pressing, sintering, and ceramic machining. Health physics controls and safety regulations and practices according to AEC standards are completely described. (Author)
