RESEARCH IN RUSSIAN-ENGLISH MECHANICAL TRANSLATION ON SYNTACTIC LEVEL.
Abstract
Russian-English mechanical translation was performed on a research basis. The method is representative of new MT capabilities, since it transfers information content from the source language into the target language by substitution of units of syntactic description. The R and D effort under this contract consisted of the following tasks: processing 5,000,000 words of Scientific Russian into the Information Maintenance System (IMS); conversion of the USAF Russian Master Dictionary into the IMS format; syntactic description and verification of the Russian test corpus; word frequencies and concordance of the Russian test corpus, and Russian-English interlingual syntactic description.
