INVESTIGATION OF NEW CONCEPTS AND LINEAR BEAM TECHNIQUES FOR MICROWAVE POWER GENERATION.
Abstract
The objectives of this contract are to investigate practical applications of electron streams derived from laser-irradiated surfaces and related basic photon-metal interaction phenomena; to investigate the capabilities of the beam-plasma amplifier developed at Cornell; and to study active microwave phenomena in solidstate materials. The purpose of these solid-state studies is to provide a better understanding of the phenomena and their application in the effective generation and amplification of high-frequency, high-power microwave signals. This report presents the progress of the research on four tasks: Linear Beams and R-F Circuits; Beam-Plasma Interaction; Microwave Solid State Devices; and Laser-induced Emission. (Author)
