SIGNIFICANCE OF PITCH FOR SPEAKER IDENTIFICATION.

Abstract

A number of methods for the extraction of pitch from speech signals were examined and compared. These methods were evaluated in order to determine the most reliable pitch extraction devices for use as a clue or parameter to be used in Speaker Identification. Four Learning and Recognition experiments were performed to determine the significance of pitch as a clue. The experiments are fully discussed and their results are presented in the form of confusion matrices. (Author)
