COMPUTATION OF EFFECTS ON BOMB TRAJECTORIES CAUSED BY DEPARTURE FROM STANDARD TEMPERATURE,

Abstract

The Bomb Ballistic Reduction Tables are based on constant 59 F. standard temperature. Temperatures at high altitudes differ too much from 59 to permit use of differential corrections. This report presents a method of making a non-linear change from 59 standard to any chosen standard, a small table giving the effect on apparent reciprocal ballistic coefficient caused by change of temperature standard. It also shows how to consturct weighting factor curves by which differential effects of departures from the new standard can be found. No new trajectories need be computed for either of these purposes. (Author)
