A MESON FACTORY IN SWITZERLAND.

Abstract

During April of this year the Swiss Federal Government approved funds for the construction of a new high-energy laboratory with a meson-factory as principal equipment. This will be an isochronous cyclotron of 500-MeV proton energy, with an internal current of 100 micro amperes. Details of the construction, plans of the accelerator and the laboratory, the history of the project, as well as plans for the future will be discussed. (Author)
