INVESTIGATION OF ELECTRONIC INTERACTION WITH OPTICAL RESONATORS FOR MICROWAVE GENERATION AND AMPLIFICATION.

Abstract

Construction of the experimental monotron oscillator with a TEn11 resonator and a high velocity rotating beam was completed. The oscillator was designed to operate with n = 10 at a frequency of 67 GHz. Initial experimental results indicate that the formation of the high velocity rotating electron beam is satisfactory. Beam voltages in the range of 300-500 kV have been observed. Millimeter wave output has been observed. It probably arises from harmonic generation rather than from monotron oscillation. (Author)
