DEVELOPMENT OF INFRARED SOURCES.

Abstract

Several mechanical models of short-arc high-intensity lamps were made to study new starting techniques fow low voltage ignition. Four lamps were constructed and preliminary tests made to study operating characteristics of these designs. Lamps can be made that will start on a 40 to 50 volt DC power supply without the use of high voltage auxiliary equipment. (Author)
