LIQUID ROCKET SYSTEM CONJUGATE STRUCTURE AND TANKAGE PROGRAM.
Abstract
A total of 16 full-scale packs have been rolled. Three have been shipped to the steel mill and the two remaining are in lay-up. The tool engineering has been completed and the major assembly tools are in various phases of fabrication. The eight panels, 40 x 47.28 in, required for the lower tank assembly, have been hot formed, leached, and cleaned. The lower tank will be assembled first and the upper tank will follow the same assembly sequence. The bar stock for all of the tankage Y rings has been machined to remove the scale, and one ring has been roll formed and welded. This ring is being stress relieved and will then be machined. The two dome assemblies are being fabricated. The gore sections for the lower dome have been stretch formed and are now being welded together.
