THEORY OF PROPERTY FILTERING IN PATTERN RECOGNITION,

Abstract

The problem of the conceptual design of property filters is approached by the analysis, mainly via decision theory, of selected mathematical models of classes of patterns. The models entail the extensive use of groups of geometric transformations and hence the treatment of the models involves heavy emphasis in invariant properties. Included are general theorems relating the invariance of classes to the impossibility of separation by certain hypersurfaces in linear pattern spaces. (Author)
