COLLECTION, REDUCTION AND ANALYSIS OF PARTS RELIABILITY DATA FOR RELIABILITY CENTRAL VOLUME II - RELIABILITY CENTRAL DATA ENTRY AND CONVERSION SYSTEM.

Abstract

One of the most critical requirements in the development of reliable operating systems is the availability of timely and dependable reliability data on the component parts used in their fabrication. The Air Force has initiated plans for a Reliability Analysis Central which will serve as the central activity for collecting, organizing and analyzing the myriad test and operational reliability data now generated under various independent programs into a useful and readily accessible form. This report describes the results of a data collection and conversion effort conducted in preparation for a test operation of the Reliability Analysis Central. Reliability data were collected on semiconductor diodes, transistors, fixed capacitors and fixed resistors from various part vendors, equipment and systems contractors, and government agencies. A data management system, flexible file structures to accommodate the diverse variety of input data formats and suitable computer programs were developed for reducing the acquired data to magnetic tapes in Reliability Analysis Central format.
