STUDIES ON THE VIRUS OF VENEZUELAN EQUINE ENCEPHALOMYELITIS.

Abstract

It is the purpose of this report to describe the pathogenesis of infection with Venezuelan virus (VEE) in man and in certain animals, to review the epidemiology and epizootiology, to consider the influence of routes of infection, to examine various virus strains, to define the immune response resulting from experience with the live virus or with vaccines, and to endeavor to attain a perspective on this virus which will permit an evaluation of the public health hazard when transmitted either by arthropods or by the respiratory route.
