COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF LAMPCHANGERS.

Abstract

This report describes a comparative evaluation of the four-place lamp-changer presently used for flashed lighted aids to navigation and two newly designed six-place lampchangers intended as its replacement. All of the lampchangers operate from low-voltage battery supplies. The new lampchangers utilize electronic sensing of the failure of the operating lamp to provide activation of a spring-loaded drive mechanism to bring a new lamp into the operating position. This report describes temperature, electrical and environmental tests. (Author)
