ENGINEER DESIGN TEST ON AIR CONDITIONERS, HORIZONTAL COMPACT, 18,000 BTU/HR, 60- AND 400-CYCLE.

Abstract

The test was conducted in accordance with procedures set forth in USATECOM approved engineering plan of test for this materiel, which included a salt and fog test and sand and dust test on one model, and radio interference suppression test on the other model. It was concluded that the one model met the military requirement for sand and dust operation, but malfunctioning of the automatic louvre assembly occurred during the salt fog exposure test. The other model required modification for radio interference suppression. Both models were safe for personnel to use. It is recommended that malfunctioning during the salt fog test on the one model be corrected, and that the modification which corrected the radio interference suppression problem on the other model be added to future units.
