STATIC STRUCTURAL QUALIFICATION TEST OF AFT SOLAR ARRAY ARM ASSEMBLY.

Abstract

Static loading tests were performed to obtain data for determining the structural qualification status of the Aft Solar Array Arm Assembly for simulated orbital conditions. The test specimen consisted of the first three collector panels of the Aft Solar Array mounted in the errect position. Loads were applied to the specimen through a loading fixture, and resulting deflections and strains at certain critical locations were measured and recorded. The test item supported all loads applied without failure or detrimental permanent set and has passed all the requirements of the Qualification Test Procedure.
