AERODYNAMIC DATA FOR LOADS ANALYSIS OF LOCKHEED XQ-5 TARGET DRONE,

Abstract

This report presents aerodynamic data necessary for the determination of airloads for the structural design of the XQ-5 Target Drone. The aerodynamic coefficients presented were derived principally from wind tunnel tests of scale models of the subject configuration. When necessary, in order to extend the data to speed ranges in which test data were not obtained, extimated parameters are presented based on experimental data for similar models or theoretical methods where no experimental data exists. These extimated data, however, are confined mainly to the vehicle-plus-boosters configuration. Inasmuch as minor configuration changes will probably be made during the development phase of the vehicle, and scale free-flight models may not exactly duplicate the full-scale vehicle, it is mandatory that the specific configuration in question be compared with that depicted herein before the present data are considered directly applicable.
