SECONDARY PRESSURE REGULATOR TESTS.

Abstract

Previous testing on proposed models of a secondary pressure regulator had indicated the need for additional development. Earlier tests with the unit revealed trouble with the valve seat and the diaphragm. The aluminum alloy seat proved susceptible to erosion as a result of high velocity flow which in turn permitted excessive leakage. Consequently the supplier submitted for evaluation a regulator with a stainless steel seat and a change in diaphragm material from silicon rubber to teflon impregnated fiberglas. The results of that evaluation form the basis of this report.
