TUBES, WESTERN ELECTRIC 417A, VIBRATION TEST,

Abstract

Two 417A Tubes were submitted for vibration tests to determine their suitability for possible use as an RF amplifier in a fire error indicator package. The tubes were vibrated in three mutually perpendicular axes up to 20 g's. The modulated output signal of both tubes was monitored during test. The signal output of the first tube decreased as the test progressed until complete failure occurred at 20 g's; at this point, the output decreased to 6% of the initial amplitude. The second tube retained its initial output amplitude level throughout the entire test with a minimum of distortion. (Author)
