INVESTIGATION OF RAPID SITE PREPARATION BY AIR DROP TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

Depending on the existing logistics, various means may be utilized to prepare VTOL landing sites in remote areas. Various techniques to deliver materials, especially those employing a helicopter, were analyzed. The method of dropping catalyzed resin material in an impregnated fabric bag proved feasible, and a high-flow resin mixing and transfer system was designed, fabricated, and evaluated. Methods of applying this system to related tasks, such as the repair of bomb-damaged runways, were studied. (Author)
