DEVELOPMENT OF MANUFACTURING METHODS FOR PRODUCTION OF DUAL AXIS RATE TRANSDUCERS.

Abstract

A fluid rotor rate gyro, capable of supplying 2 axes of rate information and exhibiting superior shock capability, hysteresis, and threshold characteristics was productionized to reduce cost and improve reliability. All threaded connections inside the gyro were eliminated. Slip ring life was extended and the quantity and cost of component parts were reduced by design simplification. Twenty gyros were built and tested under this program in order to establish manufacturing methods and performance parameters. (Author)
