A PRELIMINARY REPORT ON OPERTION STRAIT JACKET.

Abstract

This report describes the purposes, design, methodology and preliminary results of an experiment carried out in the Florida Current, off Miami, Florida. The primary purpose of the experiment was to test a class of hypotheses on the inertial character of the Florida Current. Preliminary results indicate that the anticyclonic zone of the Florida Current is, to first order, inertially controlled. Conclusions from the experiment are restricted to a specified set of time and space scales.
