SIGNAL PROCESSING STUDIES AND ANALYSIS.

Abstract

The report contains preliminary information on the data reduction problem for satellite object identification. The ultimate goals are to develop data reduction techniques and analysis techniques utilizing high range resolution backscatter returns from a monostatic radar. These techniques will be developed using high resolution scattering matrix information from a model range. A data format has been developed for processing this information in an SDS930 computer. Raw data consisting of amplitude, phase and polarization of a backscattered signal will be recorded as a function of aspect angle. These components are then re-assembled in the computer into a Range Measurement Block and a Basic Measurement Block. The Basic Measurement Block consists of the aspect angle as a parameter and a succession of Range Measurement Blocks. This represents a range cut for particular aspect angle. (Author)
