A TUNABLE X-BAND COAXIAL MAGNETRON. VOLUME I - PROGRAM HISTORY.

Abstract

The purpose of this contract was to develop economical quantity/quality production processes for a tunable X-band coaxial magnetron, capable of meeting present and future airborne requirements. It is necessary, in order to satisfy present system requirements, that the tube be electrically and mechanically interchangeable with the 6249B/1122P magnetron. This tube, designated the SFD-304, has been designed to have sufficient inherent mechanical and electrical ruggedness to be ideally suited for use in all known environments, as required by airborne, shipboard, and land-based systems. Included in this report is a history of refinement problems encountered, the steps taken toward the achievement of the final design, and the testing performed to confirm the fulfillment of the program requirements. During the last phase of this work, ten tubes were manufactured for delivery to the Government.
