RADIOISOTOPE THERMIONIC GENERATOR RESEARCH.

Abstract

Efforts were directed towards the integration of thermionic converters and other electrical accessories into a radioisotope generator system. An over-all power conditioner system approach was adopted and designs for the inverter and regulator subassemblies were completed. Considerable effort was concentrated on mathematical analyses of interconnecting lead design. Equations derived in the analyses were integrated through the use of a computer program. Components were selected for the Thermionic Module-Heat Pipe Assembly and currently include two three-converter modules and two TZM heat pipes using lithium as the working fluid.
