RESEARCH ON RELAXATION PROCESSES IN MAGNETIC MATERIALS.

Abstract

A technique for measuring the ferromagnetic absorption curve on comparatively large samples has been developed. Measurements using this technique on rods and spheres of porous, polycrystalline YIG are reported. The magnetization curve of single crystals of Eu3Fe(5-x)GaXO12 (x = 1, 1.2, 1.3) has been measured at room temperature. Above 1 kOe the magnetization increases approximately linearly with magnetic field-strength, with a differential susceptibility of the order of 0.0002. The saturation magnetization increases with increasing Ga content in this range. At room temperature the width of the ferromagnetic resonance line is very large in these materials.
