INVESTIGATION OF A MOVING BELT RADIATOR.

Abstract

This report covers the sixth quarter of a continuing research program of the moving belt radiator, a novel concept for the rejection of waste heat in space. The primary concern remaining in this program is the in-flight dynamic simulation of the belt radiator. During this period, the tracking properties of the dynamic model (1/5 scale) were investigated. A suitable tracking system with tapered rollers was used to investigate the dynamic belt shapes of stainless steel and Mylar.
