TACAN ANTENNA TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

The primary objective of this program was to build the breadboard model of a TACAN antenna system. This model will provide an experimental demonstration of the feasibility of an electronic scanning technique for TACAN ground antennas. During the period of this report the complete breadboard model was built and each of its components was tested and aligned. The antenna system consists of two parts: the microwave assembly and the electronic control assembly. The components of the microwave assembly are: a power distribution network, r-f cabling, r-f amplitude modulators, radiating elements, and a ring array structure. A phase locked 15-z and 135-z frequency generator, a quadrature phase generator, a trigger generator, modulation signal generators, and audio cabling make up the electronic control assembly. The performance of all components has been found to be satisfactory, and fabrication of the breadboard antenna proceeded in accordance with the program plan. (Author)
