AIR FORCE EASTERN TEST RANGE TELEMETRY SYSTEM,

Abstract

This book is published to promote a better understanding of the telemetry capabilities on the Air Force Eastern Test Range (AFETR). The material also covers general characteristics of the equipment used to support the range user. Details of design may be obtained from AFETR personnel. During FY-63, AFETR started a program to supplement or replace the existing telemetry system. The workload was determined by an extensive analysis covering such factors as the number of missiles per program, complexity of needed support, stations to be used, countdown time, and missile scrubs. The analysis also considered the quantity of data to be reduced (1) in a real time, (2) for quick-look, and (3) after completion of the mission. Procurements were begun after the analysis was made. The telemetry system is divided into five major subsystems: antennas, receive/record, data separation, data processing, and data display. Equipment to be installed at each station, and expected operational dates are provided to allow for future planning by the range user.
