INTEGRATED ENGINEERING/SERVICE TEST OF LOWERING DEVICE, PERSONNEL/CARGO, UTILITY, 500-POUND CAPACITY AND NYLON WEB ANCHOR STRAP FOR USE WITH THE CH-34 HELICOPTER.

Abstract

Integrated Engineering/Service Test of Lowering Device, Personnel/Cargo, Utility, 500-Pound Capacity and Nylon Web Anchor Strap for use with the CH-34 helicopter was conducted by Yuma Proving Ground, Yuma, Arizona, and U.S. Army Infantry Board military personnel during August and September 1966. The purpose of this test was to determine a suitable floor tiedown configuration for the CH-34 and to ascertain the suitability of the troop-use instructions contained in POMM 1670-251-12. No deficiencies were found. The shortcomings noted during conduct of test were readily correctable. It was concluded that the modified single-web anchor strap assembly was suitable for use with the CH-34 helicopter and that the troop-use instructions contained in POMM 1670-251-12 with appropriate changes reflected in this report are suitable for use with the CH-34 helicopter. It was recommended that the modified single-web anchor floor tiedown strap assembly be approved for use with the CH-34 helicopter for both personnel and cargo and that POMM 1670-251-12 troop-use instructions be corrected to reflect the changes necessary for use with the CH-34 helicopter as specified in this report.
