OPERATIONAL GUIDE TO SYNOPTIC APPLICATIONS OF METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS FROM SATELLITES.

Abstract

The main purpose of this guide is to present, in a brief and orderly fashion, examples of meteorological applications of readily identifiable cloud patterns which currently have synoptic significance for the operational meteorologist. The material presented herein is basically a review of the material discussed by Mr. V. J. Oliver, of the National Environmental Satellite Center, at the World Meteorological Organization's Seminar on the Interpretation and Use of Meteorological Satellite Data held in Moscow, October 1966. The contents of this guide have been prepared with the help and cooperation of the National Environmental Satellite Center, Suitland, Maryland. (Author)
