IMPROVED DETECTION AND IDENTIFICATION OF INCAPACITATING AND LETHAL AGENTS.
Abstract
There is a need for specific, sensitive, direct methods for the detection of a variety of functional groups or moieties. During this reporting period, emphasis was placed on the development reagents for the detection of the organophosphorus-type agents. In this regard, efforts were concentrated on developing improved tests through structural modification of reagents (DIA, EMKO, IBA, CYANOPAM) that have shown promise for the organophosphorus-type agents. Eleven structures were selected for study. During this report period, the synthesis of two of these potential reagents was completed and work on five of the other structural analogs was initiated.
