VORTEX LINE CONVECTION IN CURVED CONDUITS AS A BASIS FOR COMPUTATIONS OF LOSSES AT THE WALLS.

Abstract

The work presented here is devoted to the problem of evaluation of losses in three-dimensional flows arising in curved conduits of finite heights, produced by turbine cascades. A review is included of the theoretical works on the phenomenon of the occurrence of secondary flows as well as a method of evaluation of the coefficient at the walls. A method is given of approximate determination of the location of vortex lines as a result of their convection as well as a method for calculation of losses at the walls of palisades of turbine buckets.
