WAVEGUIDE, WAVEGUIDE CIRCUITS AND ANTENNA RESEARCH STUDY.

Abstract

An engineering research study on novel electromagnetic waveguides, antennas, filters and related devices is to be carried out to supplement in-house research. Special emphasis will be placed on studies concerning the beam waveguide and beam waveguide resonator. The measurements made during the past period were concerned with the effect of the coupling aperture impedance on the resonator Q, with the verification of reported high loss for resonators operating in the vicinity of confocal spacing, and with radial field measurements to obtain support for the conjecture that two modes exist simultaneously in the resonator. The results of the measurements indicate that the iris is probably the perturbation by means of which higher modes are launched in the resonator.
